And now it has been officially declared by the ICC that Bangladesh will be one of the eight teams to play Champions Trophy as they are in number seventh in the ICC ODI Ranking by September 30, 2015.
Bangladesh is going to play in this tournament after 2006 which was held in India. And it will be the first time for Bangladesh to participate in Champions Trophy after changing the structure of the tournament.
It is a gift of Bangladesh’s consistent good performances in One day International cricket. Bangladesh won back to back four bilateral series against Zimbabwe, Pakistan, India and South Africa. They also qualified for the quarter final of World Cup for the first time of their cricket history this year.
According to the rules of Champions Trophy, the second biggest cricketing extravaganza will comprise of eight teams which will be divided into two groups.
The number one team along with fourth, fifth and eighth team of ICC ODI ranking by September 30, 2015 will be placed in one group and number second, third, sixth and seventh team will be into another.
One day International Rankings till September 30, 2015 –
1. Australia- 127 ratings
2. India- 115 ratings
3. South Africa- 110 ratings
4. New Zealand- 109 ratings
5. Sri Lanka- 103 ratings
6. England- 100 ratings
7. Bangladesh- 96 ratings
8. Pakistan- 90 ratings
9. West Indies- 88 ratings
So, according to the rule, the two groups will be as follows –

Group B 1. India 2. South Africa 3. England 4. Bangladesh
So, it is confirmed that Bangladesh will be put on tougher group where they have to face India, South Africa, and England. But Tigers fans still can feel relaxed as Bangladesh beat all these teams in 2015!
